At The Scrubbery, our mission is helping people help. We believe meaningful change begins by helping one person at a time, equipping individuals with the tools, confidence, and support to make a difference in their own communities. Through “the sum of the littles”, where everyone is doing a little, we create a ripple effect. Because when each of us contributes what we can, however modest, those small acts grow into something extraordinary.
We are a volunteer-run charity that makes and supplies scrubs and other essential garments for frontline workers. We collect and distribute donated aid, working through a network of community and national partners to turn collective goodwill and practical skill into meaningful support where it is needed most.
We support local community partners by working closely with organisations such as Oasis Academy Putney, where our volunteers contribute time, skills and creativity. We are generously hosted on site by the school and in return, we assist with school projects and community initiatives.

Scrubs
We are a volunteer-led community charity sewing scrubs, essential garments and accessories for frontline staff and patients. We coordinate volunteers to make scrubs, gowns, pyjamas and other important items for NHS hospitals, health services and wherever there is need, turning bought and donated fabric with joint effort into vital support. Every stitch, big or small, makes a difference.

Community Partnerships
Our partners are at the heart of everything we do. We work hand-in-hand with medical institutions and NHS trusts, local schools including Oasis Academy Putney, Putney High School and St Paul’s School, community organisations such as Roehampton Community Shed, Roehampton Community Box, FoodCycle, local Foodbanks and St Paul’s Pantry, and churches including St Margaret’s, The Boathouse Church and the Parish of Putney. under whose umbrella charity we were founded.
Alongside these, we collaborate with grassroots and international initiatives including the Linus Quilt Project, Putney Women’s Institute, Putney Rotary, Dress a Girl Around the World, Medical Lifelines Ukraine, Pick Ups 4 Peace and Embrace Me (Ukraine), as well as local projects such as Chantelle’s Kitchen, Lunch on the Lane, Wild About Play, the Duke of Edinburgh training scheme and Work and Play Scrapstore. Through this wide and active network, we are able to sew, collect, share and distribute aid — combining practical skill, surplus resources and community energy to meet need both locally and further afield.

Ukraine
Our work in Ukraine combines practical aid with direct action. We make, purchase, collect and sort essential humanitarian supplies, helping to fill the transport vehicles of Medical Lifelines Ukraine, Pick Ups 4 Peace and Embrace Me (Ukraine) so that every convoy leaves fully equipped for those in need. Alongside this, our volunteers also undertake deliveries ourselves and raise funds to purchase and equip ambulances and support hospitals — providing critical frontline medical assistance as well as aid for displaced families and orphanages.
Through initiatives such as twinning Oasis Academy Putney with School 73 in Lviv, we are also building lasting community links, connecting young people in Putney and Ukraine through solidarity, friendship and shared purpose.
